Bukina Faso President resigns following riot, military takes over

The President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Campaore has resigned from office following yesterday's massive protest by people who were opposed to the elongation of his 27 years tenure. In a statement released today, Campaore said his seat was vacant and urged his people to conduct an election in the next 90 days.

Mr Compaore had earlier said he would remain in power until a transitional government had completed its work in 2015, a position the opposition parties and the army refused, forcing him to resign from power. His whereabouts is currently unknown.
In the meantime, Bukina Faso's army chief Nabere Honore Traore has taken over power and has instituted a transitional body that would conduct elections for the seat of the president in the next 90 days.

About time! Ever since Blaise Campaore betrayed the darling of Africa and the Third World Thomas Sankara even he must've known he was living on borrowed time. How he stayed alive and survived in power for so long remains a mystery but then every run of luck eventually comes to an end. He should be grateful to be alive.

What is happening to our aviation system? Is the new Aviation Minister not competent enough to bring international best practice to our Aviation sector? Please all this flights delay is not helping matters in this country. Something fast should be done to forestall further delay.

He murdered Thomas Sankara just to please the French, now the popular revolt (unlike the orchestrated Arab spring) has sent him packing.

He must be tried and hanged for the murder of Sankara & impoverishing Burkina Faso.

What a continent! 27 donkey yrs in power yet not ready to quit. Is only in this dark continent that such thing exist......some africa rulers (not leaders) should be ashame of themselves cos i truely knew that all them do travel out to other develop countries of the world yet cant dimed it fit to improve the living standard of their people back home. Many of them prefared to die in european hospital instead of upgrading those within their countries...... Now that this retard man had put his nation in crises that he knew he'll step aside. What a moron! Shame to tyrant rulers in africa cos Hell fire is your destination .

This is very very impossible to happen in Nigeria...I wonder how people see this country, if you look at Nigeria from a wider view, you would see that all these people saying such kinda revolution might or should happen in Nigeria forget to understand that to begin with, Nigeria is a massive federal country with a heterogeneous characteristics where the diverse cultures and beliefs makes it hard for people to have a common interest and fight for a cause, there will always be difference in opinions and interests, this would make it hard for a revolution to occur. More so, most of these countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Burkina Faso, had leaders who ruled for 32, 20+, 42 and 27 years respectively, has that ever happened or will it ever happen in Nigeria? no...Nigeria is a great country and we're moving forward in a different way not necessarily through revolution. we will get there...Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa and this title was not bought with money, its slow but we're moving, lets ignore pessimism and antagonistic criticism laid towards the present administration, let's do what we can to support it...and those of you calling for Buhari to come back as president, I have a few points for you...is it the same Buhari that halted the nascent democracy through coup or military act in d 80s that you want back? Is it not the same Buhari who used unquestionable military power to impose his policies because military rule detests opposition? Is it the same Buhari who rules when he was in his early 30s and now 70+ and has refused younger generations to partake in governance? If we truly want progress, this is not the kind of people we need, it is a setback, because when such people take over, the first thing on their agenda would be to put aside whatever d present administration has done or is doing, thereby slowing the pace of development...it is logical.
Note...I'm not a politician or a political party member...I'm just being practically observant and truthful here.

Andy Patrick.

Grow up, you're obviously still a kid...who has ever ruled up to 10 years in Nigeria?
You lazy ass who wants everything done for you, In case you don't appreciate Nigeria as a country, go to Bahrain, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan, Liberia, guinea, Rwanda, Congo, Sudan, Somalia or the So called Burkina Faso you so much love and call a country and collect citizenship without wasting time...while there, you can join them and fight for a course...being a Nigerian is a luxury for you, go where you will showcase your might in revolution, riots and continuous struggle for freedom.

LoGic!!!

Logic.

I will always blame d rubbish of Nigeria on the people..they don't hv a common voice, they don't Love 1 another, every Nigerian is selfish..d same people tht ruled us 20yrs ago r still trying to contest..d same ones tht r ruling and failing to take us forward are re contesting and d people will vote them with their own hands and come back complaining online online few months after..leave story and suck d situations up..Nigerians adjust well and amend to whatever government we have at anytime

Mr Andy Patrick, you claim not to be a politician or belong to any political party but the main thrust of your write up was targeted towards a particular 'politician'; I wonder what that really makes you then. I don't see you complaining about other military men that participate in coups that are presently in our government (No. 3 man in Nigeria and others). Buhari has as much right as you and I to vie for an political position and you can either vote for him or not.
The problem with our generation is that we want power to be handed over to us on a platter; nobody will give you what you do not ask for. We have to make ourselves a power block that cannot be ignored and not continue to be 'social media gladiators'; only heard and seen on social media and blogs.
Keep deceiving yourself that a revolution will not happen here, let the lower cadre of the citizenry keep seeing the brazen display of wealth by the politicians while they suffer then we will know. If you think all is well with this nation then you are so far away from reality.
Am not a 'politician nor do I belong to a politician'...
