Pres. Buhari pledges free meals to primary school pupils - Osinbanjo

At the 45th Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would soon start giving primary school children free meals. He said the free meals scheme was a core project of the Federal Government that would in turn yield about 1.14 million jobs and increase in food production.
Speaking on the topic “Repositioning Nigeria for Sustainable Development: From Rhetoric to Performance,” Osinbajo said that the multiplier effects of the introduction of the school feeding scheme would help to create new jobs; increase food production by up to 530,000 metric tonnes per annum, as well as attract fresh investments up to N980bn.
He said:
“One of the most important interventions required in the education sector is capacity building to improve teacher quality.
“This programme is intended to drive teachers’ capacity development; boost basic education; attract talents to the teaching profession. Better educated population increases economic potential for productivity.”
“The All Progressives Congress has made a commitment to provide one-meal-a-day for all primary school students; that would create jobs in agriculture, including poultry, catering and delivery services.”

How many families will let their kids eat the food? How good will the quality of the food be? Isn't free primary school education better than free food for primary school students? Well.

Every kid on this blog quickly jump to criticize every little step by Mr President. Is blind criticism the new trend, most especially little kids from SS and SE cos i have mature and sensible people from these parts of the country who reason well. he promised free meals for pupils and about to fulfill that amongst every other great things he promised. Please lets encourage this government so we can benefit more and if u want to criticize,do so constructively after all its a democracy. God Bless u mr President for this initiative and God Bless Nigeria my country.

Pot of porridge for the stupid lopsided appointments? Of course we can't be fooled anymore, we can afford to feed our kids( just give them education and send them home to us , we will feed them) All we are saying is give North, south, east and west their due representation appointment wise, portfolios that have a voice to all segments and not crumbs after you have given all major ones to your fellow mallams. This is not 60s and 70s. We have long passed politics of marginalization practiced by your paymasters in the past. Awareness is very high now, nobody can be brain washed again. Keep your food to yourself.

amen. God bless you too! It's better to be optimistic and supportive in prayers and cooperation.

who are these people calling the president 'foolish and an idiot'?...when the bible told us to honor our leaders-you better watch what you say if you wanna be great in life. Human, they will always complain. Gosh!

Unknown said...

Abeg two of u shud shift faraway joor, how is taken away dere free education n feeding them a change?...dis can only come from a clueless Govt

anonymous said...

The best legacy any government on earth can give to its people is education. Why not embrace the manifesto of the defunct UPN and SDP that pledged free education at all levels of government. With good vision, free education in Nigeria at all levels is possible. This step though is not bad one, let watch and see

Unknown said...

ok! We are waiting and watching
